Today, we’re introducing "Lotus Root & Kudzu Syrup"!
This syrup features the gentle sweetness of lotus root and kudzu. Made with lotus root powder from Yamaguchi Prefecture and kudzu powder from Southern Kyushu, it draws out a natural sweetness using the power of barley malt.
Developed by Inyan Club, a long-running cooking school, this product was created to support children with allergies and asthma. The concept behind it is to promote health through daily meals rather than medicine, using only simple, natural ingredients.
It contains just three ingredients: lotus root, kudzu powder, and barley malt. The lotus root, including both the root and the node, is dried, roasted, and turned into a rich powder. Kudzu powder, known for its gut-friendly properties, is then added. Finally, barley malt enzymes convert starch into natural sugar, creating a smooth, mild sweetness without the use of refined sugar—following a traditional malt syrup method.
You can enjoy it straight by the spoonful or dissolve it in hot water to make a soothing lotus root drink. Many people incorporate it into their routine for throat care or during dry seasons.
